WVU, Marshall, Virginia Tech Notables to Attend The Greenbrier Classic
Alumni and fans of West Virginia University, Marshall University, Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia can support their favorite team during the inaugural Greenbrier Classic with the purchase of an Alumni Badge. This PGA TOUR, FedEx Cup event, which will be held July 26 – August 1 on the Old White Course, will bring the world’s greatest golfers to West Virginia. To add to the excitement, the Alumni Hospitality Tent will feature guest appearances from notable head coaches and alumni athletes from the four universities.
The Alumni Badge, available for $495, provides tournament access for all seven days as well as admission to the Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday concerts. In addition, Alumni Badge holders will enjoy complimentary unlimited tailgate-style food selections and non-alcoholic beverages in the alumni tent along with premium alcoholic beverages available for purchase.
Mountaineer fans and alumni can show their team spirit with WVU’s basketball coach Bobby Huggins and football coach Bill Stewart and former WVU and NBA legend Jerry West. Doc Holliday, Marshall’s football coach and Tom Herrion, the Herd’s basketball coach will attend on Saturday. Mike Hamrick, director of athletics and Frank Giardina, associate athletic director for the Thundering Herd will also participate. Virginia Tech’s head football coach Frank Beamer, head basketball coach Seth Greenberg, head baseball coach Pete Hughes and the executive director of the Hokie Club, Lu Merritt, will also be on hand during the tournament for Hokie fans and alumni. These are just a few of the notables scheduled to attend The Greenbrier Classic.
A limited number of Alumni Badges are still available and may be purchased online at www.greenbrierclassic.com. Alumni and fans also have the option of purchasing a badge through Badges for Charity, also available online, and selecting their favorite university to receive 30% of the proceeds from their purchase.
